Claims Manager Required

Reporting to Director of Corporate Resources, the purpose of the role is to actively promote a health, safety and pro-active claims management culture to all levels of employees with the policies and procedures of Sureway’s Health, Safety and Environmental Manual.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee employee disability management and site specific disability management for workers, owners and clients
• Training supervisors and staff on the disability management process contained in the Sureway Health, Safety and Environmental Manual
• Act as an advisor, monitor, a resource and auditor to all levels of line management, departmental staff and workers
• Oversee workers compensation claims and associated activities
• Oversee the development of return to work and modified work programs
• Liaise with jurisdictional WCB boards and agencies
• Research current upcoming trends, best practices in Disability Management
• Submit reports to senior management as required
• Work closely with project managers, superintendents, supervisors, workers, safety advisors and external clients & client groups


The qualified candidate must have:
• Experience in the Disability Management field, particular emphasis on WCB claims management
• Experience in the construction field would be considered an asset
• The ability to work with limited supervision and to be proactive
• Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
• Excellent knowledge of the Workers Compensation Act, Regulations for all jurisdictions in Western Canada
• Good communication skills
• Good presentation skills

Top Hands
• Assists the workers in the trench and provides vertical and horizontal survey checks based on alignments provided by resident Engineer.
• Must be able to read and understand drawings and grade sheets.
• Lift, string and cut pipe as required.
